Senior Choir - A Brief History
Wesley College has a long, proud choral tradition and the College’s Senior Choir has achieved tremendous success over the last number of years.
The choir is drawn from students in fourth, fifth and sixth year, membership of this choir by audition and choirmembers make a big commitment when they decide to become part of this exciting choral group. A full and varied yearly schedule is embraced by the choir with concert performances both at home and abroad on the annual choir trip, school engagements, recording sessions, workshops and competitive performances all around Ireland.
The Senior Choir are multiple Feis Ceoil competition winners including the School Choir of the Year, once outright winners of the title and twice runners-up in the All-Island Choir of the Year, as well as achieving top prizes in the Cork International Choral Festival, Feis Maitiu, the Sligo International Choral Festival, Wesley's own Interschools Music Festival along with the Navan and Kilcoole Festivals.
Much in demand, the choir has performed in venues both at home and abroad, taking them to the National Concert Hall, St Ann's Church, St Patrick's Cathedral, Christchurch Cathedral, Belfast's Titanic Centre, Sacre Couer Basilica, St Martin in the Fields, the Centre Culturel Irelandais and many more besides. The Senior Choir also make frequent apperances on RTE television and radio, most recently being broadcast on Lyric FM as part of their annual Christmas carol competition as well as accompanying the switching on of RTE's Christmas lights live on air.
