  • Ad Astra Scholarship Winner
    19th May Ad Astra Scholarship Winner Congratulations to Anna Mitchell who has been awarded an Ad Astra Scholarship in UCD. This is an elite scholarship in UCD, awarded to pupils of exceptional talent. Anna is the leader of the Wesley Choir orchestra and a member of the award-winning Senior Choir. Earlier in the year, she was also one of only seven finalists in the 2016 Top Security Fr Frank Maher Classical Music Awards.

    17th May Silver Gaisce Award Congratulations to Scott Mulligan who has just been awarded his Silver Gaisce Award. Even more significantly, he completed the award in the quickest allowable time, overcoming the not so small matter of a broken leg halfway through. We wish him well as he embarks on the Gold Challenge.

They put in a great performance to only finish four points behind the winners from St. Andrew's.

  • Distinction in Choral Singing
    12th Apr Distinction in Choral Singing Senior Choir were delighted to receive a Distinction in their recent Royal Irish Academy of Music Choral Singing Gold Standard exam. Achieving an incredibly high mark of 93% for their chosen programme of music, they have reached distinguished themselves at this high level for the third consecutive year. The examiner visited the choir on campus for an early before-school exam last month and he was more than impressed by the musical sophistication of this extraordinary choral ensemble.

  • Hibernian Orchestra Concerto Competition
    7th Apr Hibernian Orchestra Concerto Competition Congratulations to Killian White who won the 2016 Hibernian Orchestra Concerto Competition, an annual open competition aimed at aspiring concerto performers. His prize, after a number of competitive rounds and shortlistings, was to appear as a soloist with the orchestra in the National Concert Hall, performing the Dvorak cello concerto. A number of Wesley staff and pupils went to support Killian and were treated to a wonderful performance from a prodigious talent.
  • Bord Gais Energy Student Theatre Awards Shortlist
    30th Mar Bord Gais Energy Student Theatre Awards Shortlist On the back of the success of Senior Drama's production of The Importance of Being Earnest, it is wonderful to announce that Hannah Brady, one of the stars of last year's play Philadelphia, Here I Come, has been shortlisted in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category in the Bord Gais Energy Student Theatre Awards. This is a massive achievement as the awards receive submissions from over 300 schools all over Ireland. The ceremony takes place in May and we wish her the best of luck.

    28th Mar Spainspotting Well done to Matthew Harris and Luca Cambursano's on their entry to this year's Post Primary Languages Initiative Fifth Year Spanish short film competition. The brief was to create a short film which was based on a film or tv series that promoted a region in the north of Spain called Castilla y León.

    9th Mar SciFest@Wesley Wesley's 1st Year classes competed in January and February in the annual SciFest@School competition. In first place was the project entitled: " Which indigestion remedy works best?" by Emma Ruttle and Sophie Boylan. The overall runner-up was "What makes a ball bounce? by Toto Daly, Ruby Mitchell and Carrie McCleane. Well done to all the participants.
