Sports Update
Girls Rugby
The first 7's blitz of the season was hosted by Leinster Rugby in St Mary's RFC. Wesley fielded two Senior girls' teams. We played tag in the tournament as a lead into the contact season. The girls played really well and won 4 of their 5 matches. Great fun was had by all and a fantastic start to the season, well done girls.
Boys Rugby
Congratulations to the U-15 A and B teams who won their matches on Saturday against Castleknock College. The A's recorded a great win, producing a very strong defensive game, with three tries from Toby Durham. The B's won their 5th match in a row with Dean Cox claiming three tries. The U-14 A's and B's lost to CUS.
Boys Hockey
Congratulations the Senior 2's who beat Mount Temple 1's 5-0 in a friendly, with Ross Henderson ensuring the win with four goals. The U-14 B's were also in action against Mount Temple. They proved that a day trekking around Glendalough didn't tire them out, and won 2-1.
The U-14 A's made a strong start to their league when they played Sutton Park yesterday afternoon winning comfortably. The U-13 A's were also in action against King's Hospital in their first league match which they won 2-1. Well done to both teams.
Girls Hockey
Congratulations to the Junior C's who won their first league match 5-2 against Loreto on the Green, led by their captain, Leah Newman Egan. Maddie Field was a very influential player in the match scoring two of the goals, along with Anna Lew, Erika Quill and Robyn Conway.
The Junior A's were drawn against Mount Anville in the first round of the Junior Cup. They had some great attaching plays and gave it their all but Mount Anville scored from a short corner and will now proceed to the second round. Commiserations to the girls and coach but we wish them all the best in the plate.
There was a number of friendlies against Alex on Saturday Also. The Minor A's won 4-1 with a hat trick for Siuin Woods. The Minor B's won 2-0 and the Junior D2's drew 2-2 ahead of their league match on Wednesday. The Senior 4th year team lost 2-0, with an outstanding performance from Katie Bell in goal.
