Sports Update

Showjumping

The Wesley Open team competed in Gorey on Sunday. Holly Duggan, Alanna Doherty, Anna Maher and Tilly Shaw were in great form and were one of 7 teams from the 18 teams to go clear. In the jump off phase Tilly and Holly rode great rounds and the team took 4th place. Well done to all the girls. The next competition takes place on Sunday in JAG Equestrian Centre in Kildare.

Hockey

Commiserations to the Junior B boys who lost 3-1 to St. Columa's College on Friday in the league. The boys had a good first half and created a good number of chances but St. Columba's proved too strong on the day.

The First-year girls had a number of matches against Alex on Saturday morning. The A's won 3-0 and 2-0 with Mikayla Power, Sarah Dignam and Holly Hempensthal all playing well. The B's drew 0-0 and lost 1-0, well done to Juliette, Jane and Sophia who stood out on the team. The D's lost 5-1 with the second half like a different game, as the girls began to work together and pass wide well. Orla had a great game in midfield and up front, as did Ellie who scored our goal in the beginning of the second half. The Minor B's lost their match against Mount Anville, with great work from Tara Galbraith and Molly Byrne.

Congratulations to the Junior D1 team who comfortably won their first league match against Holy Child Killiney  3-1. All the girls played incredibly well together with Ana Paula Muro Landa scoring all three goals and Ana McKiernan standing out in midfield to win the skills award. The Junior A's drew their friendly with Muckross 1-1 while the C's lost 3-1 against Alex, Sara McGoldrick scoring out only goal. The Senior 3's lost their league match 3-0 against Mount Anville, with Katie Bell having another stormer in goal.  Check out all the photos from that match here.
