Girls Hockey
The Junior B's played Mount Anville on Tuesday in a league match. Despite fantastic performances from Ishbel Marcoux and Sophie Wall, with Sophie Lynam and Eva McCrea marshalling the defense well all game, the girls lost 3-0. The Junior A's played a friendly against Kilkenny on Wednesday winning 2-0 while the D2's played their second league match against St Mary's Naas. The girls came from 1-0 down to win 3-1 with two goals from Sara McGoldrick and the other from Grace Priestly. Solid performances in defense from goalkeeper Rebecca Hayden and centreback Aoife Dunne. Mid field trio of Nicole Madden, Captain Ana McKiernan and Sara McGoldrick also had great games in attack.
All first-year teams recorded wins when they travelled to Kilkenny College on Wednesday. Emma Sheeran-Purcell and Sarah Dignam played well for the A's, while Sofia Menezes played well at the back while Brook Brownell and Juliet Moor scored for the B's. Goals from Anna Forbes, Ashley Mitchell and Alex Gorden in the C game, and Ellie Cole scored a hat-trick in the D's game with an excellent defensive performance from Molly Fitzpatrick and Thywill Aladetuyi.
The Senior 4's lost their first league match 4-0 to Newbridge but after much improved marking and overall play in the second half they kept it scoreless in the second half, unfortunately the girls were not able to convert any of their goal scoring chances. Katelyn Tennant played in goals for the first time and did very well, while Aisling Cox, Jessica Mitchell Doyle, Emma Byrne, Lucy Burgess and Rachel Price in particular had very strong games.
The Senior 2's lost 2-1 in a very exciting and fast game against the High School. The entire squad of 16 had excellent personal performances end to end. Katie Bell, as always, was outstanding in goal, with Sally Dawson, Lucy Condell, Steph Conlon and Robyn Kenneely strong in defense. Rachel Contras and Abby O'Sullivan were very effective in midfield while Favour Ochomna and Carla Tully were a constant threat and very aggressive up front. Overall it was a good confidence building game for this talented Seconds team.
The Senior 1's beat Teresians in a friendly on Wednesday. Great out letting at the back from Emily McKay and Avril Cullen. Some excellent link play between the midfielders and attackers saw a lot of chances created including the reverse hit goal from Jessica McGrane.
Badminton
The first badminton match of the season was held on Wednesday and due to the building work going on in the College this year, all matches and training sessions are away for the season. As this is the first result of the year here's a quick reminder of the structure of each of the matches. There are 4 players on a team. They all play a singles match and then partner up and play doubles. As such, the score is out of 6 matches; 4 singles and 2 doubles. If the match ends 3-3 it then goes to count back on points difference to decide the overall winner. The U-16 girls, comprising of Soyoka Boyce, Abby Cox, Ciara Ryan and Imogen Forest, played a very strong Mount Sackville side on Wednesday, with SoyokaBoyce recording the only result in the match in her singles.
Rugby
The 14 A's won 55-14 against Templecarrig with tries from Jack Roberts (3), Shane Pedlow (2), Christ Collins, Eric Meagher, Finn Nolan and Jonathon Cazzini, who also recorded 5 conversions. The 14 B's won 50-28 with good performances from Jamie Byrne, Ben Keating and Sam Hutchison. Well done to all 46 players involved across the two games.
The 15 Cs won their match against Blackrock College. Ben Stewart crossed over for four tries, Jack Devitt scored in his first game of the season and Luke Hayes gave a man of the match performance.

The JCT lost 19-14 on Wednesday against CUS. The boys played very well against a good side but it wasn't enough in the end. The TY's lost 19-14 to CUS, conceding a try in the last 5 minutes let CUS edge us out. The SCT were also in action against CUS, which we won 13-7.
