The school library is an integral part of Wesley College. Each pupil is given a library card and at the start of the school year each new student is given a library tour and encouraged to explore the library.
If we do not have any particular book that they may like to read- we will order it and have it available for lending before the end of the week. Students may also use the cyber library .
The library is open from 8.30 am until 6.00 pm every school day. Boarders have access to the cyber library during the weekend.
- New enlarged Junior Section.
- DVD collection with the latest films.
- Comfortable seating for reading the newspapers and magazines.
- Display of new acquisitions
- Library news and latest book reviews.
The Library hosts a number of events during the school year, including the Transition Year Literature Prize. Students enter a piece of art that is inspired by a novel or poem or any work of literature. The Librarians have the hard task of judging the winner and runners up.
Students who have won prizes either for academic achievement or a class prize, are able to choose a book from a wide selection of titles which are on display in the Library every day at lunch time. Favourite choices again this year were works on Baking and Inventions; along with Anna Karenina and Hunger Games. These books are then inscribed with the winners name, and kept for posterity! The buzz surrounding the well deserved winners making their choices is great and encourages others for next year.
New books are constantly being added to the library stock. Students are asked to recommend their favourite authors and Mrs Rowan will buy books on an on-going basis and have requested titles in the library within a short space of time.
