The Wilson Library

Welcome to the Wilson Library!

The Gordon Wilson Library is a central part of school life, supporting learning, reading for pleasure and student wellbeing. Located on the top floor of the Learning Resource Centre (opposite Epworth House), it provides a welcoming space for study, reading, collaboration and quiet time.

The Wilson Library is named after past Wesley student and Northern Ireland peace campaigner Gordon Wilson.

Opening hours:

• Monday to Friday: 8.15am - 6.00pm

Borrowing:

• All students and staff are automatic members
• Students may borrow up to 3 books at a time
• Loan period: 2 weeks with renewals available
• Books can be returned to library staff at the circulation desk or via the Returns Box outside the library door

• 44 study carrels for quiet study, plus additional desks in Cyber Library

• Dedicated areas for Junior, YA, Classics and Graphic Novels, including special collections such as our Wellbeing Collection and Dyslexia Friendly Novels

• Books available in multiple languages and formats
• Board games, jigsaws and stationery
• Sensory supports including ear defenders, fidget chair bands, sensory fidget toys and reading aids

• Space for collaborative work, presentations and quiet study
• Charging points at study carrels
• Spare device chargers and over-ear headphones available for in-library use

Supported Learning

The library supports all year groups with:

• Research and project work from Junior Cycle to Leaving Cert
• Development of reading and digital literacy skills
• Access to curated resources aligned with the curriculum
• Guidance in finding, evaluating and using information

We also contribute to schoolwide events such as Book Week, Wellbeing Week, Green Week and other themed weeks. 

Student Library Assistants

Students can volunteer as part of the Student Library Assistant programme.

Student Library Assistants:

• Help with shelving, organisation and displays
• Support library events and activities
• Gain valuable organisational and teamwork skills

Applications can be made throughout the academic year by submitting the application form.

Digital Library - Sora App

 All students have access to Sora, our digital library platform.

• Read or listen on any device
• Access thousands of eBooks and audiobooks
• Customise reading settings including font, size and background colour

Students receive login details on joining the school. Further help is available at the library desk.

For Parents

The Wilson Library plays an important role in supporting students’ academic progress, reading development and overall well-being. Through a carefully curated collection, guided support and a welcoming environment, the library encourages independent learning, critical thinking and a lifelong engagement with reading. Parents are encouraged to support students in making full use of the library’s resources, both in school and through our digital platform.
