2021
The PE Department organised a number of competitive fun events over breaktimes and lunches throughout the week, with all years taking part. There was Rounders for 1st and 2nd years, Volleyball for 3rd and 4th years, and Spike Ball for 5th and 6th years. The competition was fierce, but most importantly it was wonderful to see so many students participating to ‘Give it a Go’. Even Mr Woods and Mr Mackey got involved, and enjoyed some friendly competition in a game of ‘Spike Ball’. The breaktime challenges included basketball shooting, speed gates and a test of reaction using ‘blaze pods’.
Well done to 1A5 and 2A1 who were the overall winners of their respective Rounders competition.
The winner of the Speed Gate Challenge was Cian Mitchell Doyle with a time of 5.42 seconds over 40 metres.
The winner of the Basketball shooting competition was Ben Stewart.
The week ended in sunshine with a great turn out on Friday afternoon for the ‘Wesley Challenge’ which saw students & teachers enter the traditional ‘Wesley Run’ challenging themselves in the 1, 3 & 5 lap. This was a great opportunity to run, walk or just cheer on their friends. Congratulations to Tommy Cullen, Phillipa McGlinn & Jamie Byrne who were the winners of each category.
Finally, the week wouldn’t be the same without a staff challenge. This year we ran a Strava Event, which gave the staff 3 categories to enter, the winner was the staff member who accumulated the most kilometres over the week. We must congratulate Ms O’Brien, Mr Delaney & Mr Hosford for winning the Wesley Walking, Cycling & Running Strava Challenge respectively. The staff covered 800km throughout the week, a really great effort
A big thank you to all the teachers and sports staff who gave up their lunch and breaks to help out over the week.
