Anti Bullying
Wesley College recognises the very serious nature of bullying and the negative impact that it can have on the lives of pupils. As outlined in our Anti Bullying Policy, the College is fully committed to best practice in preventing and tackling bullying behaviour and a positive, open, “telling” environment is fostered and encouraged at all times.
Wesley College Charter - Rights and Responsibilities
Every classroom and public space in the College has a copy of our Rights and Responsibilities charter that we expect all pupils to follow.
Bullying Awareness Week
Each year we hold a Bullying Awareness Week where we highlight different issues relating to bullying, and we also educate our pupils in how to recognise and report possible bullying behaviour. We hold Bullying Awareness Week early in the year to educate and remind our pupils about their rights and responsibilities in this area. Although it is only one week in duration, we expect all of our pupils to bring the message from the week with them throughout the whole year. The committee that organises Bullying Awareness Week week is a mix of teachers (Ms. Downes, Ms. Murphy and Mr. O'Rourke) and pupils, and we are particularly proud of our senior pupils who put themselves forward to be our Anti Bullying Ambassadors throughout the year. All pupils receive a Bullying Awareness Week badge and the current badge encapsulates our charter - Treat Others With Kindness and Respect.
Bullying Reporting Form
As mentioned in our Anti Bullying Policy, we encourage pupils to disclose and discuss incidents of bullying behaviour in a non-threatening environment. Wesley College has a whole-school approach to appropriate behaviour towards others and when dealing with bullying. A pupil or parent may bring a bullying concern to any teacher in the College, and pupils can also report possible bullying behaviour on our online 'Bullying Reporting Form'
