  • Wednesday 21 April 2021 Entrepreneurial Success Well done to Shane Pedlow whose Nestbox Ireland business caught the attention of RTɒs Nationwide this week. A film crew were on campus producing a slot for the programme showcasing his nestbox products.
  • Monday 19 April 2021 College Scholarships Congratulations to the following students from the Class of 2020 who have been awarded scholarships to various third level colleges on the basis of their Leaving Certificate results: David Fenton (College of Business Entrance Scholarship, TU Dublin), Anneliese Hogan (Bachelor of Education Academic Scholarship Award, DCU) and Emma Harlick (Actuarial & Financial Mathematics Academic Scholarship Award, DCU).

  • Sunday 11 April 2021 Green Week 2021 This year's theme for Green Week was climate justice as we are working towards the Green Flag for Energy and Global Citizenship. Climate justice focuses on how we in Ireland have caused climate change (through burning fossil fuels) but those who are suffering the most from impacts are the poorest, most vulnerable people around the world who did the least to cause it.
  • Monday 15 March 2021 Gael Linn Debating Congratulations to Niall Finnegan and Sam Taylor on making it through to the 3rd round of the Gael-Linn 'Speech' Competition as Gaeilge this year (in lieu of the normal debating competition). Both Niall and Sam have been excellent competitors and very much deserve to move forward in the competition. Go n-eiri an t-adh libh!
  • Saturday 13 February 2021 Jack Wise Magician In the lead up to the February midterm, Wesley students were treated to a wonderful surprise from the Parent Teacher Association. A fantastic Magic Show featuring Jack Wise was organised through Zoom for all students. The virtual audience was wowed by skills of suggestion and psychological manipulation. Jack is also one of only 60 sword swallowers in the world today. What a way to end the term! Huge thanks to the PTA committee for this fantastic treat.
  • Wednesday 10 February 2021 Wesley Artist of the Year The theme of this year's Wesley Artist of the Year was 'Despite Covid...all is not cancelled'. Students were asked to create their works at home in any medium of their choice. The guest judges were both past pupils of Wesley who now work in design - Chris Merton and Daniella Kaligorsky. They awarded the Overall Wesley Artist of the Year to Sophie Ramphul (4th Year) for her artwork entitled 'Reading isn't cancelled'. The Junior prize was given to Alison Bailey Condron (3rd Year) for her piece 'Silver Linings'.
  • Tuesday 9 February 2021 National Junior Debating Well done to Conor Heerey in Transition Year who competed in the Grand Final of the Matheson Junior Debating National Mace. Out of over 500 students from all over Ireland, Conor was selected to progress to this stage of the country's largest debating competition. Congratulations on a wonderful achievement.
  • Monday 25 January 2021 University Scholars Congratulations to Jamie Taylor and Cameron Ryan from the Class of 2020 who have been awarded Entrance Scholarships to Trinity College and Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology respectively. These awards are given on the basis of Leaving Certificate performance. They will be presented with their prizes at a virtual ceremony this month. Well done to both and we wish them continued success in their academic careers.
  • Monday 21 December 2020 Climate Ambassador Congratulations to 5th Year Green Schools member, Amy Herskind, on her selection as an An Taisce Climate Ambassador for 2021. Amy was selected for this prestigious role from a large number of applicants. She will join a group of other ambassadors around the country taking climate action in their communities. We look forward to seeing what initiatives she will come up with for Wesley. Well done Amy!
  • Thursday 19 November 2020 Team Hope Collection The TY class 4A5 is proud to announce that on Wednesday 25th November there will be a fundraising event for all TY to attend. This is an event not to be missed and photos will be posted in due course. We would like to encourage all students and parents to donate on our page.
  • Monday 16 November 2020 Bullying Awareness Week This year's Bullying Awareness Week has the theme of 'Better Together'. This theme encourages us to remember that when other people are in our lives we thrive. However, we must also remember that we must treat people with respect and as we would like to be treated.
  • Saturday 24 October 2020 Irish Cancer Society Fundraising Ms Malone and 3A7 had a very successful two days selling pins for the Irish Cancer Society. They managed to raise an impressive €569 and would like to thank everyone who supported them and made a donation. A big well done to the 3rd Years on all their hard work running and organising the event.
  • Thursday 22 October 2020 Numeracy Week Numeracy Week took place from October 12th in the College as pupils got to grips with daily maths problems and there were even cross-curricular links as other departments highlighted the importance of numeracy in their subjects.
  • Sunday 18 October 2020 Sister Act! Wesley College Senior Drama is proud to announce ‘Sister Act The Musical’! The musical will take place in March 2021 and the cast lists are now up for students to see. We can't wait for you to see the show!
  • Tuesday 13 October 2020 Photo Memories 'Photo Memories', an incredible pictorial memoir of Wesley College over the past 25 years, has been published this year as part of the anniversary celebrations. Compiled by Dr. Maria Mulrooney, the book serves as a walk down memory lane for past pupils, parents and staff of the school. Organised chronologically, snapshots of daily school activity, sporting successes and the developments in our fantastic campus are documented for your perusal. This book captures the atmosphere of the college within its pages and is something for the school community to cherish. Available from the school office for €15.
  • Friday 9 October 2020 Prizes and Honours 2020 On October 8, the College was delighted to welcome past pupil, Neale Richmond TD, to distribute the awards at the annual Prize Distribution. Mr Richmond is no stranger to Wesley having led our Remembrance Day services in previous years. The highlight of the school calendar, the event acknowledges the academic achievements and perseverance of pupils throughout the year. Restrictions made it a rather different event though no less memorable.
  • Sunday 20 September 2020 Green Schools Hydro Flasks Wesley hydro flasks are on sale now! As part of our campaign to reduce single-use plastics on campus, the Green Schools committee are selling reusable flasks during every lunch break this week. There are three colours to choose from – turquoise, orange and green. The 24oz bottles keep liquids hot or cold for 12 hours, are BPA free and come with a lifetime guarantee. They are engraved with the image of the Wesley wyvern protecting the Earth, designed by Juliet Arpac (class of 2020). With every €15 bottle purchased this week you will receive a free key ring made from recycled materials by 2nd Year Dylan Walsh. The key rings come with various engravings (e.g. Leinster rugby, Wesley crest, Liverpool football etc.) and can be hung on the bottles to personalise them.
  • Monday 31 August 2020 SciFest Award 2020 Congratulations to Ciara Heaney, Holly Bond and Jinlong Situ who were recently announced as the top prize winners in the 2020 SciFest@DCU. The group won the Science Foundation Ireland Best Project Award for their project 'The effect of exercise on short-term memory'.
  • Tuesday 28 April 2020 Student Enterprise The Dublin final of the National Student Enterprise Competition was held online this month. We had six entries into the three categories and we are pleased to announce that Colm Finnegan and Eoin Lai won the Junior Section, while Harry Goolding, Harry Osbourne and Harry Ryan won the Intermediate Section.
  • Monday 27 April 2020 Health and Active Week 2020 Health and Active Week will be taking place in the College next week between the 27th April and 1st May. Although we can’t be on the campus together to celebrate this year, we hope that students will get involved virtually with the activities planned.
  • Monday 20 April 2020 Virtual Green Week Welcome to Wesley’s first virtual Green Week! Although we can’t be together on campus to celebrate Green Week this year we still want to mark the occasion and think about how we can protect our local and global environment. We have a number of competitions for all students and staff to take part in.
  • Tuesday 3 March 2020 Green Schools Workshop The Green Schools committee facilitated their first peer education workshops today with 1st Year students. They ran a series of games including rubbish relay, giant Jenga and bingo to highlight the problems associated with single-use plastics.
  • Thursday 27 February 2020 Oxford Schools Debating Competition Natalia Byrne and Conor Heerey have enjoyed several significant successes in debating and have been chosen as one of eight teams who will represent Ireland in the Oxford Schools Debating Competition which will take place in the world famous Oxford Union this May
  • Tuesday 25 February 2020 Bright Star Awards 2020 The College was delighted to welcome back Mairead Fleming from Ascension Recruitment to present our Bright Star Awards to Transition Year students for their Mock Interview performances. Well done to overall winner, Emma Ruttle and runners-up, Reid Cockrell, Ella Byrne, Charlotte Dougherty and Lucy Gardiner.
  • Monday 17 February 2020 1st Year Modern Languages Trip First Year pupils of French, Spanish and German enjoyed action-packed trips to Paris, Salamanca and Berlin before the mid-term break, providing them with an immersive experience in their target language.
  • Thursday 6 February 2020 Wesley Artist of the Year 2020 We are proud to announce the Wesley Artist of the Year winners are Lucca Browning (3rd Year) with his composition entitled 'Bella', with the overall prize deservedly awarded to Juliet Arpac (6th Year) for her piece, 'Weary Bones'.
  • Sunday 26 January 2020 Garda National Youth Awards Congratulations to Bethan Lawson who has won an Individual Award in the Garda National Youth Awards 2020 for her fundraising efforts on behalf of the Peter McVerry Trust and Trocaire.
  • Wednesday 22 January 2020 Senator Neale Richmond Visit Wesley were delighted that Senator Neale Richmond was able to create time to join us on Wednesday 22nd of January for a discussion session.
  • Friday 17 January 2020 Poetry Aloud 2020 Well done to all the participants in the Wesley Poetry Aloud Final on January 9th. An intense and competitive evening was eventually decided in favour of Amber Caunter (Prep) in the Junior Category, Walter McCabe (Third year) in the Intermediate Category and Holly Micklem (Sixth Year) in the Senior.
