Welcome to the Reading Nook
There has been something of a transformation in one corner of the school library since last year. The Reading Nook was created in the southwest corner of the library. Ms Dickson, the school librarian worked closely with Ms Murphy (guidance counsellor) and Ms Mulvey (head of SEN) to ensure the Reading Nook would be a place of tranquility and comfort. The Reading Nook is both a space to read quietly and without distractions and a place to find refuge from the bustle of a busy school. As well as comfortable bean bags and cushions, there are sensory aids such as weighted lap pads, fidget toys, ear defenders and a collection of wellbeing books. In the same way that reading a favourite book can give us comfort and strength, we hope that our students make use of this quiet little corner when they need to look after their wellbeing. All students are welcome to make use of the Reading Nook outside of class times (before school, break, lunchtime and after school).
