2021

From the 4th to 7th May 2021, Wesley College Dublin will be decorated in rainbows and become a beacon of celebration of the LGBTQ+ community in Wesley. From petitions to awareness campaigns, support for every student and member of staff no matter their sexual identity will be at an all-time high around campus. Wesley will aim to affect social change throughout, in not just the wider Wesley community but also around the world with specific campaigns targeting countries and regions that aim to restrict LGBTQ+ rights.

There will be multiple competitions run throughout the week. Firstly, a logo competition to be used for Pride Week in the coming years. We want you to design a logo that combines both Wesley and everything the LGBTQ+ community stands for. It must be submitted digitally to the submission form below by 4pm on Thursday 6th May. There will be one junior and one senior winner, each of whom will be announced in tutor class on Friday 7th.

Secondly, there will be a short story competition in response to the prompt ‘Seven Colours, One Rainbow – diversity, acceptance and belonging.’ This is also to be submitted to the submission form below by 4pm on Thursday 6th May. Winners for this competition will also be announced in tutor on Friday 7th, with one junior and one senior winner.

You can enter both competitions by submitting your entry at the bottom of this page.

The highlight of the week will be a Pride Parade after school on Wednesday, starting from the steps of the Admin Block, beside the classroom block, winding its way around campus, and culminating in a picnic on the top rugby pitch. Everyone is welcome, including and particularly those from outside the LGBTQ+ community who are keen to show their allyship and support.

For further information or if you have any questions, please contact Imogen Forrest, Peter Bond, Ms. Sweeney, Ms Savage or your tutor.
