Sports Update

International Rugby

Well done to Sam Illo who played for the Ireland Under 18 Clubs and Schools squad over the Easter holiday in a two-match series against England Under 18 Clubs and Schools.

 

Girls Rugby

Huge congratulations to the Junior girls rugby team. They played in the Leinster Metro Cup on Friday, topping their group after 5 matches. They went on to the semi-final where they met St. Marys Glasnevin, and came out with a 5-1 win.

The final was against St. Marys Beaumont. After an exciting full time, both teams were tied at 4-4, with each side adding one more try a piece in extra time. The game then went to golden try, with Wesley unfortunately losing out. Congratulations to all the girls on their exceptional end to their season.

 

Athletics

Congratulations to all athletes who represented the school at the East Leinster athletics meet this week. The following students were successful in attaining medals; Bosola Ojewale: 3rd Junior Javelin, Faye Dervan: 2nd Inter 1500m & 1st Inter 800m, Jamie Byrne: 1st Minor 1100m, Killian O’Brien: 2nd in Minor 800m, Hollie Micklem: 3rd Senior 3000m, Carla Hudson: 3rd Senior 200m. Well done to Favour Ochonma, Maddie Fields, Emma Paul and Carla Hudson who all came 3rd in the Senior 4x100m relay. Best of luck to Bosola, Faye, Jamie and Killian who will now compete at the Leinster meet on the 15th of May.

 

Girls Tennis

The Senior A’s lost to Mount Sackville and beat Kilkenny College during the week while the Junior A’s lost to St Mary's Naas. The Minor B’s lost to Sion Hill and beat St Conleth's. The First year team also beat St. Conleth's 3-0. Well done to all the girls who played and good luck in their final few tennis matches over the next two weeks.

The inhouse Championship is also well underway and nearing the semi-final stages, good luck to all those who are participating in their respective categories.

Boys Cricket

The 2nd Year B’s lost to High School while the 1st Year A’s lost to a strong Malahide side who recorded a score of 117. The 3rd Years put up a good performance to beat St Joseph’s by 5 wickets. Elliott Atkinson 35 not out, Richard Bucheli scored 27 not out and took 3 wickets. Kameron Moran took 2 wickets.

Girls Cricket

Congratulations to the Senior A’s who recorded a 9 wicket win against Sandford Park. Sadhbh Breslin reached 40 not out with Emma Paul next in line with 20 not out. The Senior B’s beat St. Columba’s with Rachel Patterson batting well, while the 2nd years beat Sandford Park with Mikayla Power hitting a few boundaries to secure the win.
