Girls Hockey

The Senior 3s lost to a much stronger Beaufort side. We had plenty of opportunities throughout and the girls said afterwards that they had a lot of fun playing, so not all bad. It was nice to finish with a goal near the end too from Ciara Heaney.

The Minor A Girls beat Rathdown 2-0 in the league. After a slow first half, the second was much improved and we started taking control of the game. Scored two lovely goals by Ruth Keogan and Annabel Squires.

The Minor Bs secured a spot in the League semi-final after a comfortable win against The High School. A good team effort.

Well done to the Minor Ds who had their first win of the season against Temple Carrig, 2-0. Play was quite even in the first half with both teams having chances to score. The second half saw us spread out more and some good passing led to a scoring opportunity in the circle which was tapped in by Lily Conway. The second goal was scored in similar circumstances, this time by Hope Devaney. Natasha O’Shaughnessy covered really well at the back and Rachel Clarke and Emma Grady did great work in midfield.

The 1st Year B/Cs 11 a side lost 2 0 to Loreto Foxrock. They all enjoyed their match, but just need a bit more time playing in a bigger pitch so they can learn to play more effectively. Great to see the steady progress they’re making.

Hard luck to the Prep Girls who lost against Guardian Angels 4-0. Despite the score, Malayka was fantastic in goals and Searla a little trooper sweeping up at the back.  Girls worked hard until the end.

There was a number of games on Saturday at home, with only the Senior 1s playing away. The Seniors beat Mount Sackville comfortably in the quarter final of the plate. An excellent second quarter saw us score three well worked goals, moving the ball around well. Well done also to Anna Lew who scored two goals in her first run out for the seniors.

The Junior As beat Mount Anville 4-1. Wesley dominated the first half scoring 3 goals in 15 mins. The second half Mount Anville put us under a lot more pressure. Plenty of positive play from the girls, with goals for Mikayla, Siuin, Lauren and Sarah. Hannah made some great saves in the second half and Emma Montgomery was stand out player.

The Junior B/Cs drew 0-0 against Mount Anville. They had the large majority of possession but couldn't convert it into any significant chances unfortunately.

A 2-2 draw with Mount Anville for the Minor As in a friendly. Our girls played some lovely hockey and were particularly good on the counter. Won loads of short corners just need to tweak a few things so that we convert a few more.

The Minor Cs lost by 1-0 to Mount Anville Bs. Alya Egan, as ever, proving to be crucial for the Cs. They practised 1 v 1s after the game which Wesley won 1-0 with a nice goal by Robyn and needless to say Alya was a thorn in the Mount Anville girls’ side.

Rugby

Well done to the Under 15 A XV who won 35-28 at home to CBC Monkstown on Wednesday afternoon. A special mention to Ed Collins who scored four tries in this match. Ferdia Spain added an additional score with Peter Montgomery kicking all of his five conversions.

The Under 15 B XV lost out at home to CBC Monkstown, with Alistair MacWilliam and Alby L'Estrange both getting on the scoresheet. The squad now await the visit of St Fintan's School in their last match prior to the mid-term break.

Boys Hockey

The Junior Bs beat The High School Bs 3-0. The boys did well to bring some brilliant training ground baseline attacks to the game.

Congratulations to the U14 As who won 2-1 against The King’s Hospital so secure their spot in the final next week. A well taken goal by Jamie Byrne before half time eased the pressure, allied to some top quality goal keeping. They equalised early in the 2nd half but Ed Collins scored with 5 mins to go. Good all-round performance from the team. Daniel Jones had a cracking game at left back. Evan Pearson did a sound job at left midfield.
