Girls Hockey

Congratulations to a remarkable team of girls who beat Mt Anville in the Final of the Minor A league. Wesley were up against a really strong Mt Anville team and had to cope with a lot of pressure in the opening half and went into the break 0-0. Wesley came out a completely different team in the second half and showed their true form, with continuous attacks leading to many scoring opportunities. The defence and midfield showed excellent composure throughout, dealing with any Mt Anville attacks. The game was 0-0 at full time and went into 1v1s.

Wesley looked the superior team, putting away all 4 of their 1v1s, with Hannah McKeena in goal working tirelessly to stop them converting their chances. The final score was 4-2 to Wesley, a very sweet and long-awaited victory. Congratulations to Roisin Scanlon and her team and to Mr Codd their coach.

Boys Hockey

Congratulations to the U-13 A’s who beat Newpark 5-0 in the cup Semi-Final. They went on to meet St Andrews but unfortunately lost 2-1 to final having gone 1-0 up. Congratulations to the team for their success this season.

Well done to the U-14 A’s who beat St Andrews 2-1 in the Cup Quarter Final. They then beat Mt Temple 4-0 and will now face The High School next Wednesday in the final. As Cup finalists they have also progressed to the All-Ireland finals in April.

Commiserations to the U-14 C’s who lost to East Glendalough on 1v1s in the semi-final of their League. The Junior C’s also lost out to East Glendalough in the Semi-Final of their League, finishing 4-2. Well done to both teams on their commitment and performance this season.

Congratulations to the Junior A’s came out victorious over St. Andrew’s in the Cup Final. Despite Andrew’s taking the lead in the first half, Wesley remained the more dominant out-field, with continued pressure paying off to equalise in the second half, thanks to a short corner drag by Adam Walker. Walker also scored the second goal, taking the lead for Wesley. A great performance by the team, showing resilience and impressive team play. Well done to the team and we wish them luck against the same opposition in the league final next Friday.
