Congratulations to the 1st Year boy’s athletics team who achieved 2nd overall place at the Blackrock College Invitational Meet on Wednesday.
Top performers were; Liam Campbell - 3rd in the Junior shot putt, David Bosch - 2nd in the Inter 200m, Killian O'Brien - 2nd in the Minor 800m and 1500m, Jamie Byrne - 1st in the Minor 800m and 1500m and 2nd in the Minor Long Jump. The 100m Minor Relay team of Jamie Byrne, Harry Goulding, Antoine Roquette and Milo Campbell achieved 2nd place in a very strong field of runners.
Well done to all the boys, and we wish them the best of luck in the East Leinster Athletics event next month.
Senior 1sts had a good win against Mount Anville to kick start their season. Captain Sadhbh Breslin top scoring with 36 and some very tight bowling from Robyn Conway ensured a 9-wicket win. The Senior 2nds unfortunately lost to Alex while the Junior A’s beat Alex with captain Siuin Woods scoring 57 not out. The Junior B’s also beat Alex by 7 wickets.
The 1st Year B team already have 2 wins to their name beating Rathdown last week and a big 99 run victory over Alex this week. The 1st Year C’s lost their opening game to Dundalk.
The Junior boys beat CUS by 7 runs, with Hugo Hjelseth and Ricky Bucheli scoring 4-28 and 3-13 respectively. The Senior 2’s also beat the same opposition by 5 wickets. We chased 92 down in 15.3 overs with Milanjyoti Kalita scoring 64 not out.
The 1st Years lost to St. Andrews, 132 all out, chasing 138. Ruarc Mallarkey claimed the top score with 57 not out.
On Wednesday the U-14 Boys Hockey team travelled to Lisburn to play in the All Ireland’s. They started with a 1-0 win against High School. Conor Walsh getting the goal. In their second match they beat Ashton 2-0 with goals from Max Field and Finn Nolan. 0-0 draws against Bandon and Cookstown meant a win against Banbridge would have seen Wesley win. However, it wasn’t to be and they went down 1-0.
Congratulations to the Senior girl’s rugby team who finished their season with two great wins in a full pitch 10's tournament in Kilkenny on Wednesday. The Wesley girls beat Kilkenny College 17-10 and also beat The High School 26-12. A great way to end the season. Well done to the SGT.
Congratulations to Lara Gillespie who flew the flag for Ireland in style at the Witham Hall 2-Day in England over the weekend. In a fantastic sprint finish, Lara finished first in yesterday’s final stage and a superb third in general classification.
In other cycling news, David Forbes had a wonderful weekend of racing at the Youth Tour of Scotland. The multi-stage event amounted to a total of 170km in racing; the speeds clocked by David and his club mates reflected the fast and furious pace of the field. Well done, David – an excellent experience and achievement!
Well done to current 5th Year student Timothy Elliott on his selection for the Leinster Under 18 training squad at Clongowes Wood College over Easter.
