Welcome to Epworth House – home away from home for the girls who board at Wesley College.  A homely atmosphere for girls between the age of 12 and 18 where seniors and juniors interact and look out for one another.

Epworth House has just undergone an awesome refurbishment of the junior dorms, front hall and shower area and we’re excited to show you our lovely new rooms!

Our rooms are spacious and airy with modern furniture and fittings, double glazing and plenty of sockets for all the hair straighteners, i-pods, radios, phone chargers and all the other paraphernalia essential to teenage life.  Each junior room has a dressing table and plenty of mirrors. There are heated towel rails in all the junior rooms and the shower room has under-floor heating for those cold winter mornings.

The rooms are bright and tastefully decorated.  The girls are encouraged to make them as cosy and personal as possible with posters, cushions and the little things that make it home.

On the senior side the girls have plenty of space in large airy rooms and in 6th Year share twin rooms with just one other girl.

The rooms are the girls’ space so there is always music playing somewhere and a great buzz of conversation and banter, a bit of horse play and general camaraderie made interesting with face masks, make up sessions and dressing up.

On arrival first year and new girls in other years are assigned a senior “buddy” who makes sure they know where to go, what to do and how to find things, making the transition to boarding so much easier.  A prefect oversees each year group and housemistresses are always on hand to give support and encouragement.

There is always plenty to do when you are a boarder at Wesley College.  There are a vast number of extra curricular activities, clubs, societies and sports to fill your afternoons. The great thing is that it’s all just outside the door, no commuting or waiting for lifts, especially in wet weather.

In the evenings, after tea and study, you can relax, read a book or magazine, play board games or watch TV.  There are pool tables, table tennis and exercise bikes and quiet rooms for just chatting, having supper and a cup of tea with friends.

Wesley boarder girls live in a cheerful and busy environment where sport, exercise and healthy eating habits are encouraged.

All girls have supervised study for at least two hours every day, except on weekends, so keeping up with homework and study is made routine in a structured environment.  Computer and library resources are readily available and Epworth Staff are more than willing to lend a helping hand – particularly when exams are looming.

All important holidays and events are celebrated in the house and Christmas is a very special time when a full program is enjoyed.  The annual “PJ” party is eagerly anticipated as is ice-skating at the RDS, Kris Kindle, a visit to the theatre to see the pantomime and, of course, everyone dresses up for the Christmas Party and disco.

Weekend outings include shopping or a movie at Dundrum Town Centre, trips to Dun Laoghaire or the city, an outdoor market, art gallery or museum, the zoo or perhaps bowling.

The whole boarding experience at Wesley College is a very positive one and many girls have made long lasting friendships during their time here.  Past residents stay in touch with us and reminisce on the good times spent in the boarding house; some even coming back in the capacity of housemistress!
